SAD

Valentine's day is usually synonymous to SAD - Single's Awareness Day.

Pero, ang ganda ng definition ni Nicko kanina: SAD - Single's Appreciation Day.

Funny how the same acronym can have such a pluralism in meaning

Trying

It's amazing how graces come to me in the form of songs, or lines of songs. That's what happens to me most of the time when I try to discern, and I had a lot of that during the retreat. And usually, those same lines are the status messages that I post.

And now, there's this line that kept on playing in my head the whole day... it goes
And how will we know if we just don't try
We won't ever know

I guess that now... I need to go on and take that risk.

Na-inspire ako sa yo Goots :D

Thanks

I was using VLC media player earlier (with my small laptop), listening to Hell March from Red Alert (Hey, it's addicting kaya... haha) when I noticed something different with the upper left icon of the program.

It wasn't the regular orange cone that you would usually see. When I looked at the About tab, I saw this.

La lang... I just found it cute hehe.

Merry Christmas from VLC!

I'm not really that much of Microsoft fanatic, and when my Linux friend and I always fight, we agree on one thing: Macs suck.

Here's the trailer for an upcoming movie called MacHeads. I mean seriously.... a movie about fanatic Mac users and how they worship the Mac? :|

Oh well, here's the trailer:

They say that for suicidal people, usually all they need is just one person to tell them their worth to stop them from committing their deed.

Just so you'd know, I'm not suicidal. But doesn't this show something about human nature? Doesn't it show the power a single person could have over a another person? Sometimes, a single person can cause a lot more happiness than you could ever imagine rather than a conglomeration of big fake smiles and stupid lies.

Naiilang

Based on my experience, there are only two reasons as to why a person tries to avoid another person.

The first would be if the person really hates the person. You'd want to avoid that person as much as you can, and pretend that person doesn't exist.

The other reason would be if the person really likes the other person. Awkwardness sets in, and you'd want to avoid that person so as to avoid awkward moments and the like. Or maybe you just don't want to blunder and say the wrong things. Or maybe you just don't want to spoil the moment.

So... which one is it?

My Class Sched

  • Nov. 3rd, 2008 at 6:03 AM
vain
My ETA was actually at 9:30, but I was able to enlist at 9:27. There was no lag, it was very fast, and I was able to finish enlisting before the lag started to happen.

Well, I guess there are some good and bad points about my class sched here.

The Good:
  • Classmates with Nicko in HI 18. Happiness... \:D/
  • Classmates with Oz at Tai-Chi. Water-bending! Actually, I like fire-bending better but since there's no PE class offering Northern Shaolin, might as well stick with water-bending tai-chi :D
  • Half-day classes every M-W. More tambay time! And "study" time.
The Bad:
  • 4 classes every T-TH, and 2 every M-W-F. Di na balanced x.x
  • I wasn't able to enlist for the classes I wanted because of physics lab. I hate you physics. That's why I couldn't enlist for M-W-F classes, and everything was dumped to T-TH
  • 7:00 classes on T-TH. Sana makagising ako by then XD
The Ugly:
  • Classmates with Nicko in HI 18. Baka gaguhan na to >:) Baka ma-karma uli kami at bumagsak kami rito :))

Blink 182 - First Date

  • Aug. 23rd, 2008 at 11:40 PM
vain
For the past couple of weeks I guess, I've been listening to this song - First Date by Blink 182. Nothing really. I just find the song really nice. And being the kind of timid person that I am who likes over-analyzing things, I guess that it's also something that I can really relate and empathize with..

First Date
Blink 182

In the car, I just can't wait
To pick you up on our very first date
Is it cool if I hold your hand?
Is it wrong if I think it's lame to dance?
Do you like my stupid hair?
Would you guess that I didn't know what to wear?
I'm just scared of what you'll think.
You make me nervous so I really can't eat

Lets go... don't wait... this night's almost over
Honest... lets make... this night last forever
Forever and ever... lets make this last forever
Forever and ever... lets make this last forever

When you smile, I melt inside
I'm not worthy for one minute of your time
I really wish it was only me and you
I'm jealous of everybody in the room
Please don't look at me with those eyes
Please don't hint that you're capable of lies
I dread the thought of our very first kiss
A target that I'm probably gonna miss

Lets go... don't wait... this night's almost over
Honest... lets make... this night last forever
Forever and ever... lets make this last forever
Forever and ever... lets make this last forever

'Cause I know I'm always late

The past few days, I've been very frustrated with myself. It's just that I've been given so many chances and so many opportunities. However, I'm frustrated at myself for not seizing and taking advantage of such opportunities. If only omission were not a sin.

It was earlier when I was shuffling my music when it started to play Fallout Boy's "A Little Less Sixteen Candles, A Little More of Touch Me." My favorite line goes
You're just a girl all the boys wanna dance with, and I'm just a boy who's had too many chances.
Yeah, you're someone who I guess everyone wants to be with. As for me, I guess I've just had too many chances gained and lost, all of which I had even taken advantage of. It's my fault. Wrong timing. Not striking the iron whilst it was hot. Not making use of the opportune moment to make that life-changing action. It's amazing how a few seconds can make a huge difference. I hate how when the moment comes, there I stand too scared to take action.

It's funny how in 4th year HS, I vowed to never be like that anymore. I guess that some habits are just too hard to break.

Wahahaha. Finally, I got a copy of a video from Kara of me dancing during the SOSE Launch. One of the most embarrassing moments of my life... though something I laugh at when I look back at it. Haay... why didn't I just play the violin instead :))

Of all the places within the campus, the one that I find the most depressing would be the library. For one thing, it's very cold in the library. Cold and dreary. I find it depressing because it seems almost devoid of life - nothing else there except for the hum of the frigid aircon and being on your own isolated spot. I don't know... just the thought of it depresses me. That's why I don't go to the library. But in extreme cases - such as crunch time - that's when I lock myself up in the library to do whatever it is I have to.

There's a french saying that if you stay on a spot long enough, the whole world will pass you by. Yeah, I've been at the library for the past few days, and I guess that it's amazing how many people I've seen. I saw Happiness at the library at one time, then I also saw someone who my good friend Toby refers to as my Inspiration. What's better, is that they actually sat beside me.

Wow. It's amazing that now, the library doesn't seem as depressing as it used to be.

HS Personal Info

I was going over some of my HS files earlier when I noticed the files I used for our high school year book - the Blue Book. Nothing really... here's the stuff that I posted at the personal and contact information portion for the DVD. It's funny when I look back at it now. :)

Give the Name of the celebrity you were once rumored to look like:

With a certain hairdo, Randy Orton
// Well, it was true... a lot of people did say I looked like him after I got this haircut. Perhaps it was also aside from the fact that I was fatter then.

What foreign language would you have learned given the chance?:

French, Spanish
// I was actually already starting to learn French in HS... that's why I passed my french class without much studying

How many times did you fall in love in High School? :
None
// Well, that wasn't completely true...

Where did you most enjoy hanging out in the High School? :

Just at the classroom
// I miss fixed classrooms and fixed seats where you can just make tambay all day long. I miss having a classroom customized by the class with banners and pictures on the wall saying, "This is our class."

Where did you most enjoy hanging out outside the High School? :

Megamall, Gateway, and other malls
// I miss those days of going to Megamall and card hunting with Baldez et al

If you were a teacher in the Ateneo High School, who would you be? :

Mr. Jose Felix “Joel” Falgui
// Seryoso... the best teacher ever

Word that bests describes your High School batch:

Adept
// Maraming sobrang magaling sa batch eh... hehe

Word that bests describes your High School life:

Evolution
// Kung kupal nga ako nung HS, paano pa kaya before HS? But yeah, I changed a lot in HS

Favorite Line from a teacher:

“Awww, too bad…” – Jeff Chua, (when someone pleads with him)
// One of my favorite sarcastic quotes which actually make me laugh, and which I still use up to now >:)

Favorite Lunch food at the cafeteria:

Tonkatsu
// Backup food in case I forgot to bring my own food

Most memorable/enjoyable Laboratory Activity:

Toiling for an unlimited number of overtime sessions just to finish a simple QBasic game.
// One of the most dramatic and traumatic classes perhaps we've all had. Little did I know that I'd be taking it up again.

Current event that struck you the most:

The coup attempt last February 2006
// Well, that was the most recent I could think of at that time hehe

Person you wanted to be:

My cousin, Luis Lorenzo
// He used to be my inspiration when I was in first year. Yeah, he had it all... what higher honor is there than the Magis Award. He's Luis Lorenzo III actually. If anyone can tell me who Luis Lorenzo Sr. is, perhaps i'll give a prize hehe :D

Person outside of the High School you wanted to be:

My cousin, Chico
// Yeah, I used to look up to Chico Locsin... he was the only other inspirational guy I knew from another school then.

Your Favorite words of wisdom:

Without problems, there’d be no learning and victories
// I think it was Aristotle who once said this lol

Simple things in your High School life you liked/enjoyed but didn’t notice:

Walking all the way to the ITC / ABS-CBN room for AV fun with aircon
// I miss those relaxing walks along EDSA... and the AVRs.

How do you see yourself 20 years from now?

I see myself working with computers and technology
// Who would've known...

What were you thinking on your first day in the AHS? :

That high school would take forever to finish... but I was wrong
// One of my favorite answers here

What is your motto in life?

Work and faith unleash limitless potentials
// Another one of my favorites. Just goes to show how dedicated I was academically and spiritually during that time.

Enumerate all sports, hobbies, interests on the space provided below:

Badminton, swimming, running, debating, reading, going to the gym, cramming,
// I should've added a lot more than this

Any other interesting information about yourself that you may want to share with us?

I got suspended in 3rd year because I was framed; I slipped along the promenade gutter in 4th year and landed on my side,
// amp... ang olats ko naman pala nun to answer something like this

When I first saw my result, I got a little bit insulted by the title. But after reading it, I guess yeah, I can do just about anything if I try hard enough... but I'm just too lazy. And usually, na-oolats ako in the end hehe

You are The Fool

The Fool is the card of infinite possibilities. The bag on the staff indicates that he has all he need to do or be anything he wants, he has only to stop and unpack. He is on his way to a brand new beginning. But the card carries a little bark of warning as well. Stop daydreaming and fantasising and watch your step, lest you fall and end up looking the fool.

What Tarot Card are You?
